City of New Haven to Hold Public Information Meeting about Safe Routes to School Project Design
(NEW HAVEN)--The City of New Haven will be holding a public information meeting on Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at the Fair Haven School located at 164 Grand Avenue at 5:30 p.m., to discuss final design plans completed for the ‘Safe Routes to School Project’ which is slated for construction under the Surface Transportation Program administered by the Connecticut Department of Transportation.
The project would include improvements to infrastructure projects to make the route to and from school safer for Fair Haven neighborhood children and families. These improvements include: sidewalks on Grand Avenue, East Pearl and Exchange Streets; two pedestrian refuge islands with bumps-outs and crosswalks on Grand Avenue at Bright and Atwater Streets; two speed tables on Exchange Street adjacent to the school and new crosswalks on Exchange at East Pearl and Ferry Streets.
It is anticipated that the Federal Highway Administration will provide 100% of the construction cost up to a maximum limit of $477,000.
Anyone interested in obtaining further information or providing input may do so by attending the meeting or by contacting Richard Miller, City Engineer at 203-946-6417.
